About Me

Large pink circle surrounded by small pink hearts.

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, and it’s okay to have questions or feel a bit nervous. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’re reconnecting with it after a break, I want you to know you’re in the right place—and you don’t have to figure this out alone.

Hey! I’m Kim (she/her).

I’m so glad you’re here! I’m a registered social worker (MSW, RSW) based in Windsor & Essex County, and I’m excited to connect with you.

Here’s the thing—I’m not your typical, reserved, sit-stiffly-in-a-chair kind of therapist. If that’s what you’re looking for, I might not be your best match. My clients tell me they appreciate that I show up as my full, authentic self in our sessions. Expect a mix of laughs, vibrant energy, and honest conversations. And I want you to feel just as comfortable bringing all of who you are to our sessions.

Therapy isn’t easy. It can mean sitting in the middle of life’s messiest, toughest, and most complicated moments. But here’s the good news—I’m right there with you. Think of us as a team, like Sherlock Holmes and Watson (you can pick who’s who). We’ll solve the mysteries together, get curious about what’s going on, and figure out how to make life feel a little better.

When you feel safe, seen, and validated, that’s when the real magic happens. That’s how we can dig into the work you’re here to do. Together, we can unpack what’s holding you back, look at things from fresh perspectives, and create meaningful changes that align with the life you want to live. If this sounds like the kind of support and collaboration you’re looking for, I can’t wait to meet you!

To make this process easier, I offer free 15-minute consultations that we can do over the phone or virtually.

A consultation can feel a bit like visiting an ice cream parlour. You wouldn’t settle on a scoop right away without sampling a few flavours first, would you? Maybe you’re drawn to the bright, tangy swirl of rainbow sherbet, or perhaps the rich, chocolatey crunch of rocky road. Tasting a few options helps you decide what feels just right. A consultation with a therapist works in much the same way. It’s a chance to take a small “sample” of what working together might be like before making a commitment.

Sometimes, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by who feels like a good fit, and other times, you realize their approach isn't quite what you’re looking for. And that’s perfectly okay! Either way, it’s all part of figuring out what support will be most helpful to you. A consultation gives us the chance to see if we’re the right therapeutic match.

Therapy isn’t just about tools, techniques, or treatment modalities. A crucial part of therapy is called:

therapeutic alliance

It's the bond a therapist and client create during counselling. It plays an important role in the effectiveness of your therapy. Evidence shows that the stronger our therapeutic alliance is, the better outcomes you'll have from our work together.

How do we build a strong therapeutic alliance?

Collaboration

First and foremost, I’m here to create a space where you feel safe and supported. This means you can share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. Therapy should feel like a space where you don’t have to hide any part of yourself.

We work together as a team, setting goals and deciding on the best approaches to achieve them at your own pace.  If something isn’t working, we’ll adjust. If you want to explore new avenues, we’ll do it together.

When we agree on the goals of your therapy and approach the process as a team, the possibilities for growth are limitless. Being partners in this journey highlights that therapy is a collaborative effort. You’ll feel truly heard and valued, while I demonstrate my commitment to supporting your unique path forward.

As your therapist, I deeply respect your autonomy and recognize that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to support and guide you, not to impose judgment or solutions. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel free to express yourself openly and honestly, knowing your experiences and values are fully respected.

There’s something truly healing about having someone in your corner who understands and accepts you for who you are. That emotional bond we build matters more than you might think. It creates a sense of being seen, valued, and cared for—which can be powerful, especially during challenging times. Growth requires courage, and that courage is easier to find when you know someone is right there with you, cheering you on.

Mutual respect encourages both parties to communicate openly. If something isn’t working or feels uncomfortable, the client should feel empowered to voice it, and the therapist should be receptive and willing to adjust.

Why Therapeutic Alliance Matters

Feeling confident and comfortable with your counsellor is essential. If my approach and demeanour resonate with you, that’s a great sign that we can build a strong therapeutic alliance. But if something doesn’t quite click, that’s okay too. Therapy is a highly personal process, so don’t be afraid to trust those instincts. If something feels off, it’s okay to keep looking.
